Daniel Negreanu, also called Kid Poker, is among the superstars of the poker world. Just his name alone makes an event more popular. The reason is simple: Daniel is one of the most appreciated players by the poker public.
Negreanus Style
He is an extremely sympathetic player, smiling and cordial. He makes small talk with the people on his table with amusing and normal conversation. This technique allows him to gather a lot of information about his opponents’ way of playing. Daniel has the rare ability to read the cards of his opponents, which allows him to make amazing calls (check out the videos).
Daniel Negreanu has a loose aggressive style of play. He will sometimes raise pre-flop with hands like five-deuce off suit. It makes him very difficult to read.
In 2007 he signed a contract with the website PokerStars, where he plays with other big name like Joe Hachem, Peter Eastgate, Greg Raymer, or Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier. His nickname on Pokerstars is “Kidpoker”.

Negreanus Background
His parents arrived in Canada from Romania in 1967 and 7 years later baby Daniel was born. In the beginning Daniel Negreanu dreamed of becoming a professional snooker player. He gave up this dream to play poker, and he never regretted it. First, He played in a casino in Toronto and it learned very quickly that his poker skills could bring him a lot of money. At 21 years old, thanks to the bankroll he managed to build, he decided to seek the adventure of Las Vegas. Unfortunately for him this first experience made him bankrupt and he had to come back in Toronto without one dollar in his pocket.
Obviously Daniel did not give up his dream to succeed in Las Vegas, and he was back again in 1997. That year was the real beginning of Daniel Negreanu’s career. He won 2 tournaments and got his famous nickname : Poker Kid. But it is in 1998 that Daniel became legendary in the poker world, thanks to his first victory in the WSOP. He was the youngest player to ever win a WSOP bracelet. Today the Poker Kid has won 3 more bracelets, but it is a slight disappointment not to see him at the level of Phil Ivey or Phil Hellmut.
Nevertheless Daniel has the biggest earning in WPT tournaments with more than $5,5 Millions 2 titles and 17 ITM. He has not finished entertaining us. We hope for him and for the pleasure of his fans, that his career will continue to be full of success.
